University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Alona Kyselova was the leading scorer for the women's swimming and diving team over the weekend at the UIW Christmas Invitational and that is why she is this week's UIW Female Athlete of the Week.  She is now eligible for the UIW Female Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by the UIW coaches and sports administrators.

Kyselova swam a total of nine events and earned 144.5 points at the meet.  She was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle hitting the wall in 1:52.89.  She added a third place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:17.44 and also took second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.75.  She swam on four relay teams and helped the Cardinals finish in second place.

Kyselova is a sophomore from Kiev, Ukraine and attended Tarasa Shevchenko in Ukraine.
