University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

AUSTIN JORDAN
 
After a foursome of second place finishes Austin Jordan broke through during the week of March 16 to March 22 and he is the Incarnate Word male athlete of the week.
 
It took extra holes but at the end of the ordeal Jordan was the winner at the Rattler Invitational played at San Antonio’s The Republic.  For the regular three rounds of golf he was under below par at 209 and yet was tied for the top spot.  So, a playoff was in order.
 
For the first three playoff holes he went par, par, par.  On the fourth extra hole Jordan hit his approach shot to within eight feet of the pin and then sank a birdie putt to win the trophy.
 
Included in his tournament’s work was a second round score of 65.  This was the second time this year he has scored that low and that mark is a UIW school record for a single round.
 
This is the third time this school year Jordan has been male athlete of the week and obviously he will be among the contenders when in May UIW coaches and athletic administrators name a male athlete of the year.
 
Jordan is a senior from Rainbow and Glen Rose High School.  He is studying business administration at Incarnate Word.
