Incarnate Word’s baseball Cardinals had a big time rally to win a game and Christian Divelbiss was right in the middle of the action to earn male athlete of the week honors for March 2 to March 8.
 
To set the scene UIW was down 10-1 to Southeastern Louisiana entering the bottom of the eighth inning.  A rally produced six runs to narrow the margin.  Divelbiss tripled to center field to plate two of those runs and then he scored to account for half of the rally.
 
In the ninth, still down by 10-7, the Cardinals and Divelbiss rallied again to score four times and win the game.  In this rally he drew a base on balls and ultimately scored the winning run.
 
Of the three games in the series Divelbiss played in two.  Totally he had four safe hits in eight chances at the plate including that triple.  He scored twice himself and drove home four teammates.
 
Divelbiss is a junior catcher from Yuba City, Ariz.  He is studying business administration at UIW.  He is now eligible for male athlete of the year as selected in May by Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators.
