Jordan Hicks was the Incarnate Word leader in all-purpose yards last weekend and that earned him male athlete of the week honors for November 3 to November 9.
 
Hicks normally lines up as a wide receiver on the football field but his duties have expanded to include kick returns and he has proved to be influential.
 
Against Sam Houston State he was the top Cardinals receiver.  He had a team high five catches for a team high 59 yards with his longest being a team best 23 yards.  On those catches he averaged a team leading 12.2 yards.
 
When it came time to field kicks, he had one punt return for six yards.  On kickoffs he returned four for 83 total yards with a long of 26.  His kickoff return average was 20.8 yards.
 
All of that gave him 148 all-purpose yards which were more than any other player in the game.
 
Hicks is a sophomore from Arlington’s Seguin High School.  He is a pre-med major at UIW.  He now is eligible for male athlete of the year next May when UIW coaches and athletic administrators make that selection.
