University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Ben Conway took it on himself to make sure Incarnate Word had a perfect week in men’s soccer and thus he is the UIW male athlete of the week for October 13 to October 19.
 
The Cardinals are quickly recovering from some early season doldrums and in this two-game week Conway clearly was the offensive leader.  He has also earned Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
 
At California State-Bakersfield, a team that was near the top of the WAC standings, Conway in the 50^th minute took a two-touch pass and buried it from 18 yards out.  That was the game’s first goal as UIW went on to win 2-1.
 
Next, at San Jose State, the Cardinals prevailed 1-0 when Conway scored on a header in the 46^th minute of action.
 
Those two wins put UIW at the top of the league with a perfect 4-0 mark.
 
Conway is a sophomore forward from Wigan, England.  He now will be on the ballot when Incarnate Word coaches and athletic administrators select a male athlete of the year next May.
