She used the final indoor meet to tune up her throws prior to the Southland Conference championships and in doing so Myah Antwi set two Incarnate Word records to become the female athlete of the week for the timeframe February 10 to February 16.
 
Antwi now will be on the ballot at year’s end when UIW coaches and athletic administrators vote for a female athlete of the year.
 
The scene was Lubbock.  The event was the Texas Tech Red Raider Open.  It was the last indoor meet of the year for Antwi and the Cardinals before they head out to Birmingham, Ala., for the Southland’s championship meet.
 
Antwi stepped into the ring for the shot put and came away with a throw of 42-06.00 feet or 12.95 meters.  That effort is a new UIW school mark easily topping Antwi’s own toss of 12.21 meters earlier in Albuquerque, N.M.
 
Her next event was the weight throw.  She finished with a best of 50-07.25 feet or 15.42 meters.  That too is a new UIW school mark.  And again, she handily broke her own mark of 14.60 meters set in mid-January at the University of Oklahoma Indoor Invitational.
 
Antwi is a freshman from Huntsville High School.  She is studying biology at Incarnate Word.
