SAN ANTONIO – For the last game before the holiday break, the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team hosts East Texas A&M – University for the second conference match up of the season. The Cardinals and Lions tip off at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 20 at the McDermott Convocation Center.
UIW
- The Cardinals are 5-4 overall and 1-0 in SLC play as they look to close out the semester with two non-conference match ups.
- Last Saturday, UIW held Schreiner to just 36 points during the victory as freshman Brynn Lusby scored a career-high 23 points.
- Jorja Elliott and Lusby are the two leading scorers for the Cardinals, averaging 10 points per contest.
- Raimi McCrary is the top rebounder, pulling down six per game while adding seven points as the third-leading scorer.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
- The Cardinals hold an 8-4 all-time series lead over the Lions.
- Most recently, UIW fell 66-57 over ETAMU in the Southland Conference Tournament on March 12, 2024.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- East Texas A&M, formerly known as Texas A&M Commerce, is 3-7 overall and opened conference play with a 62-56 loss against Houston Christian.
- The Lions are ending a six-game road streak at the McDermott Center and are currently on a four-game losing streak.
- Jordyn Newsome is the leading scorer with 16 points per game and Nykesha Sanders leads the SLC in assists.
