SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team plays its last home game before Christmas against Texas Lutheran University on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m.
UIW
- The Cardinals are 6-3 following a victory over St. Edward's University last Saturday (57-49).
- In the team effort, four Cardinals finished the game with double-digit points. Nina De Leon Negron (15), Jorja Elliott (12), Brenna Perez (11) and Destiny Terrell (10) led UIW. Elliott added eight rebounds, while De Leon tallied four steals and Chloe Storer finished with three blocks.
- De Leon Negron and Aliyah Collins lead the Cardinals with 10 points apiece. The pair has totaled 45 assists and 34 steals on the season.
- UIW's defense is once again at the top of the conference, holding its opponents to just 53 points per contest.
Texas Lutheran
- The Bulldogs are 8-2 this season with losses against Trinity and Pacific Lutheran.
- Texas Lutheran played at St. Edward's University in November, where they defeated the Hilltoppers 71-63.
- Kailee Mulkey (12.5) and Lauren Sansano (11.7) lead the Bulldogs in points per game. Mulkey is also pulling down seven rebounds per contest.
