SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will play its final two games of 2022 this Thursday (Dec. 15) and Sunday (Dec. 18). The Cardinals face hometown rivals UTSA for a blackout game on Thursday and Sul Ross on Sunday. From Dec 16-18, men's and women's basketball will be hosting a toy drive and fans will receive free admission into the game on Sunday with a donated toy.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
- The Roadrunners and the Cardinals have met up for a total of four games. UTSA currently holds the lead in the series, 3-1, including a win in the last matchup on November 21, 2021.
- This is the third time UIW will face the Lobos. In the first two matchups, the Cardinals won both. This will be the first time in two years that these teams have played.

- The Roadrunners are 2-5 on the season, playing against tough opponents like TCU. UTSA was only down by one at the half and in the final score, the Horned Frogs took the game by a mere seven points.
- In the last two games, the Roadrunners have shot 47-110 from the field with a shooting average of 42 percent.
- In her second season as head coach for UTSA, Karen Aston has put together an impressive roster full of hometown talent and transfers from the very active transfer portal.
- One of two USC transfers, Jordyn Jenkins, leads the team in scoring. Posting about 18 points a game, Jenkins is a threat from all areas of the court.
Sul Ross
- The Lobos are coming off a 4-1 streak heading into Sunday's game. Sul Ross' 6-4 record is currently third best in the American Southwest Conference.
- Freshman, Melone Martinez leads the team in scoring with an average of 15.5 points per game. She's also the second-best scorer in the conference.
- The Lobos play a heavy offensive game, putting up an average of 73 points a contest.
- Coach E.J. Lee Smith is in just her first year with the program. The accomplished coach came over after spending 30 years at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
