SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team looks to continue its climb up the Southland Conference standings against Lamar at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the McDermott Center.
"Excited to return home for a Southland tilt versus Lamar, a team with some talented, experienced forwards and guards who can score in bunches," Cardinals coach Carson Cunningham said. "Coach Price runs a lot of good action. We need to be locked in. I know the fellas are pumped to return to our home hardwood and eager to compete."

SERIES HISTORY
UIW (4-13, 1-5 SLC) trails Lamar (9-10, 3-5 SLC) in head-to-head matchups, 4-6.
CAN'T MISS MISZKIEWICZ
Freshman forward Vincent Miszkiewicz put together a balanced statline of 11 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals against SFA. He's averaging 10.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, two steals and 1.3 blocks per game over his last three games.
LOTS OF LUTZ
Freshman guard Drew Lutz led the Cardinals with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in the loss against SFA. Lutz also went 4-4 from the free-throw line, making it 24 consecutive free throws made dating back to Dec. 7. He's now shooting 88.6 percent from the line on the season.
NORWEGIAN NIGHTMARE
Freshman forward Marcus Larsson scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds with a pair of blocked shots in Saturday's loss.
MAGIC NUMBER
The Cardinals are 3-1 when scoring 70 or more points in a game. Meanwhile, UIW is 1-11 when surrendering 70 or more points.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
- Lamar is 9-10 on the season but has lost four of its last five contests, most recently falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the road, 64-58.
- The Cardinals have one of the top defenses in the conference, ranked No. 4 in scoring defense, No. 4 in opposing field goal percentage and No. 2 in blocked shots per game.
- Lamar crashes the offensive glass better than most teams in the Southland, ranking third in offensive rebounds per game and second in offensive rebound percentage.
- Beaumont native T.J. Atwood is the leader of this Cardinals team, averaging a team-high 15.9 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
- Junior forward Avery Sullivan is a formidable presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. The 6-8 post is nearly averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
- Freshman guard Davion Buster is the Cardinals' main threat on the perimeter. He's tied for second in the conference with 52 made 3-pointers.
