SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team is set to host San Diego State on Saturday afternoon at the McDermott Center with tipoff set for 2 p.m. (CT).

Junior guard
Kara Speer, who has started every game for the Cardinals this season, recorded the team's first double-double of the season against St. Thomas. She scored 16 points (a career high), grabbed 10 rebounds while also recording four steals. The junior put the Cardinals ahead early in the game, shooting 4-4 form the field, 2-2 from three and going 2-2 from the free-throw line all in the first quarter.
FRESHMAN EMERGES
Freshman
Brittney Stafford emerged as an integral part of the team in three tough road games. The 5-3 guard is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and leads the team in threes made this season with 15 made. She led the team with 13 points against Power 5 opponent, Kansas State, shooting 55.6 percent from the field and going 3-6 beyond the arc.

BIG WIN
The Cardinals' win over Schreiner (Nov. 5), was their largest margin of victory since 2017, when they beat Southeastern Louisiana 95-56 on Jan. 19, 2017. The team also stole the ball 18 times which is tied for third for most steals in a single game in program history.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
UIW's five turnovers against Colorado State (Nov. 26), committing zero in the first half, was the fewest number of turnovers in a game since the program moved up to Division I. The five turnovers ranks third fewest in a single game in the nation. The last time the team turned the ball over fewer than 10 times was at Houston Baptist (Feb. 28, 2018) when they gave up eight. The previous lowest number of turnovers in a game was at home against Central Arkansas (Feb. 13, 2016) when they only recorded six. UIW ranks first in the Southland Conference for fewest turnovers.
RECORD BOOK ROBINSON
Senior
Imani Robinson has 1,025 career points and is the first Cardinal to reach the 1,000-career point milestone since Ifunanya Mora (2010-14). The 5-11 guard ranks ninth in career field goals attempted (905) and tenth in offensive rebounds (163) and games started (73). She also is in the career record book at UIW with 59 blocks (5th), 396 free throws attempted (9th) and 294 free throws made (6th).

SCOUTING THE AZTECS
- Senior guard Taylor Kalmer averages a team high 13.4 points per game.
- San Diego State defeated Cal Baptist, 80-68, with a season high 31 field goals made, led by sophomore guard Sophia Ramos' 30 points. Prior to the game Ramos led the team averaging 7.5 rebounds per game.
- Sophomore forward Mallory Adams leads the Aztecs with 6.0 points per game.
- The Aztecs are holding their opponents to 27.9 percent from the top of the key.
- SDSU defeated Colorado State 59-49, a team that UIW fell to 75-47, on the road earlier this season.
LAST GAME (L, 47-37 vs Central Arkansas): SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word fell in its first Southland Conference contest to Central Arkansas, 47-37, on Wednesday night. The Cardinals had a strong first quarter, led by
Kara Speer's five points, and took an early 12-8 lead. UIW struggled in the second, going on a four-minute scoring drought that allowed UCA to pull within two and eventually the game. The Sugar Bears then went on an 11-2 run to capture a lead at the break, 25-16. Central Arkansas continued to pull away in the third quarter. Senior guard
