SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team opens the season at home against Schreiner at 6:30 p.m. (CT) Tuesday night at the McDermott Center.
FOLLOW ALONG
THE CARDINALS
- The Cardinals open the season with a new coaching staff led by coach Jeff Dow at the helm.
- The team also returns seven seniors, as well as a junior and two sophomores from last season. Dow also brought in five new faces to the program.
- The Cardinals finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 5-24 (5-13 SLC).
- UIW returns senior Imani Robinson who started all 29 games last season for the squad and led the team in scoring (9.2 ppg) and total assists (66), steals (54) and blocks (20).
- Also returning is sophomore Starr Omozee who had a team-high four double-doubles, grabbing a career high, and single game high, 15 rebounds against Grand Canyon. Omozee had the second-best scoring average with 8.9 points per game.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- The Mountaineers boast a roster with nine returners, losing two from last year and adding seven newcomers.
- Schreiner, who plays in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, had a record of 6-20 overall and 6-10 in conference.
- The Mountaineers finished sixth in conference.
