SAN ANTONIO -- University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball junior guard Imani Robinson has been named to the Southland Conference Preseason First Team, announced the league office Tuesday. The announcement comes in anticipation of the 2018 Southland Conference Basketball Social Media Day at the Toyota Center in downtown Houston on Wednesday. Robinson also earned All-Southland honors following her performance during the 2017-18 season.
 
Robinson is the first preseason first team All-SLC selection in program history for UIW.
 
This is yet another in a string of conference recognitions for the Round Rock, Texas, native. Robinson was named 2016-17 Southland Freshman of the Year two seasons ago and finished last year with third team All-SLC honors.
 
Robinson leads a hungry UIW women's basketball squad, behind third year head coach Christy Smith, as they gear up for another season of Cardinal hoops. The team opens its schedule with a Tuesday night road battle against Arizona State on Nov. 6 (9:30 p.m.). The home opener will take place Friday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. against Houston.
