Women's Swimming and Diving Falls To Houston In Home Opener

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-
The University of the Incarnate Word women's swimming and diving team came close to the University of Houston in a 182 to 110 battle at their home opener this afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
In the 3-meter and 1- meter diving competitions, Savanna Meadows finished third and posted 286.85 points in the 3- meter, but came back and won the 1-meter with 296.10 points.
 
To start the swimming portion off, UIW's Natasha Fung, Mariana Ruvalcaba Cruz, Cassandra Phillips and Ziata Demchenko won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.63, ahead of Houston by .29 of a second.
 
In the individual events, freshman standout Mariana Ruvalcaba Cruz won the 100 and 20 -yard breaststroke events as well as the 400-yard individual medley.
