SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word swim and dive team defeated the University of Texas Permian Basin in their final home meet of the fall semester. The Cardinals had many outstanding performances and won every single event on the swimming side of things.
Coach Reed Robelot said, "Congratulations to our Cardinals on the wins today. They raced hard and took advantage of the opportunity to swim some of their alternate and third events against solid competition. It was a good meet to close the fall dual meet season off with. We're looking forward to our invite in Mississippi now."
Coach Robelot went on to say, "Also, a great big thank you to our seniors who are graduating this December and closed out their careers today. We as a staff only were only able to work with them for a few months, but it was a lot of fun to get that time with them. We wish them all the best in their next chapters!"
The seniors left their mark in their final meet at UIW.
Spyros Kranias won the 100 breaststrokes by nearly three seconds with a 53.5. He also had the fastest times in the 50-yard freestyle (21.19) and the 200 breaststroke (2:26.51). To round out his day Spyros was the third leg of the first place finishing 800-yard freestyle relay, which featured another graduating senior
Asa Mynatt.
Asa was the anchor leg of the 800 free relay. He also posted the second fastest time in the 100 (47.17) and 50 freestyle (21.30).
Nysa Bentz finished her career winning three of her four events of the day. First, she anchored the 400-yard medley relay which took first place. She followed that up a 24.19 50 free and a 53.07 second 100 free to win both of those events.
