Cardinals Travel to Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team travels to Louisiana in a Southland Conference contest against McNeese State University on Wednesday.

The Cardinals (4-11, 1-3) are coming off a momentum changing win against Southeastern Louisiana last week that snapped a 10-game losing streak.  Junior Brianna Williams (Wylie/Mesquite HS) leads the team with 12.6 points per game and 18 three-pointers.  Senior Aricka Adams (Round Rock/ Round Rock HS) is averaging 11.6 points per game and is shooting 79.3 percent from the foul line.

The Cardinals are averaging 55.5 points per game and allow 62.7 points per game.  They are shooting 36.8 percent from the field and hold opponents to 40.6 percent.  They have a -2.2 rebounding margin and a -2.1 turnover margin.

The Cowgirls (11-6, 3-2) are holding on to fourth place in the Southland Conference.  Leading scorer Jayln Johnson is averaging 13.6 points per game and has 82 assists on the season.  In addition, Johnson's 92.6 percent rate from the charity stripe has McNeese State leading the conference in free-throw percentage at 74.5 percent.  Allison Baggett is scoring 12.5 points per game while Frederica Haywood is pulling down 8.0 rebounds per game.  The Cowgirls are averaging 67.1 points per game while shooting 39.0 percent from the floor and they are allowing 69.6 points per game and 42.6 percent shooting.

In their last contest, January 19 of last year, the Cowgirls won in double overtime, 104-101 in San Antonio.
