BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team will try to salvage a split on their West Coast trip on Wednesday when they play at California at 10 p.m. CST at Haas Pavilion.  The game will be shown on the Pac 12 Network.

The Cardinals (3-3) will attempt to bounce back from a tough, 73-70 defeat at Sacramento State on Monday night in a game they trailed by as many as 17 points.  UIW is still looking for their first road win of the season after three consecutive defeats.

Incarnate Word comes into the game averaging 76.8 points per game and shooting 40.1 percent from the field.  Sophomore guard Jontrell Walker (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) leads the team with 15.2 points per game and he is 23-of-24 from the foul line.  Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) chips in with 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.  Mitchell Badillo (Houston/Cy Falls HS) runs the show from his point guard spot averaging 9.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game.  He has dished out 21 assists in his last two games.  The team is averaging nearly 12.0 steals per game and has a +6.5 turnover margin.

The Bears (6-2) have won all five of their home games this year.  Tyrone Wallace is the team's top player scoring 19.0 points per game while handing out 5.1 assists per game.  He is also shooting 50.0 percent from the field.  Jaylen Brown is averaging 14.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while Ivan Rabb is controlling the paint area with 12.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.  They are averaging 79.1 points per game and they have averaged 9.0 more rebounds per game than their opponents.

The Cardinals have played the toughest strength of schedule in the nation to date.  Their three Division I games have all come on the road against opponents with a combined record of 19-2.
