SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team travels to the West Coast to take on Sacramento State on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. CST in the Hornet Nest.
The Cardinals (3-2) are 3-0 at home this year, but are 0-2 on the road. The Hornets (5-2) are the first non-ranked team the Cardinals are playing this year.
UIW is averaging 78.2 points per game and they have more assists than turnovers.
Jontrell Walker (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) leads the team with 14.6 points per game and is shooting 95.0 percent from the foul line. Four other players are averaging between 9.6 and 12.6 points per game.
Mitchell Badillo (Houston/Cy Falls HS) has dished out nearly five assists per game and is averaging 3.4 steals per game, which is third in the nation.
The Cardinals and Hornets have never met before, but the football teams played during the 2014 season. Sacramento State is averaging 79.0 points per game while outscoring their opponents by 8.1 points per game. Marcus Graves leads the team with 14.7 points, 5.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game while Cody Demps is averaging 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. Justin Strings is the final member of the team averaging in double figures with 12.4 points per game on 64.7 percent shooting.
