TULSA, OKLAHOMA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team get back on track with a 5-2 win against Southland Conference rival Oral Roberts on Saturday.

After losing against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earlier in the week, the Cardinals (14-5, 2-3) went back to their winning ways with another strong performance, this time against the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts University (7-11, 0-5).

In the doubles competition, UIW started the day's play as they meant to go on with victories at #1 and #2.  Leonard Ivic and Josip Smoljan defeated Jack Busby and Jason Mechali 8-6 while Jair Assuncao and Tucker Brown defeated Parker Allen and Amar Saletovic 8-2.

Next in the singles, Smoljan, Brown and Brandon Davis posted routine wins against their opponents at #3, #4 and #5, while Assuncao was defeated 7-5, 6-3 by Fabian Zierleyn at #1.

After Antonio Cavazos fell 7-5, 6-1 against Cole Guy at #6 singles, it was left to Leonard Ivic to wrap up the victory as he came back to win in three sets against Amar Saletovic. After losing the first set 4-6 he took the second and third 6-2 and 6-1.

After a short turn around, the Cardinals are back in action on Sunday against the University of Tulsa at 10 a.m.
