The Cardinals (15-7, 11-5) led the TexAnns (17-5, 13-3) at halftime by one, but a quick three-point play at the beginning of the second half would give Tarleton the lead and they would not let go of it for the rest of the game. An 11-1 run that took 4:25 off the clock would give Tarleton a 10-point lead over the Cardinals. The Cardinals wer able to cut the lead to six, but another 10-3 Tarleton run would give the TexAnns the edge.
The lead changed three times in Saturday night's matchup. The Cardinals' largest lead over the TexAnns came in the first half and was seven points. After that, the score would be tied twice before the TexAnns pulled away with the lead.
As a team, the Cardinals wrapped up the game shooting a season best 50 percent from the field, making 26 of 52 attempts. They shot an impressive 63.6 percent from three-point range and 78.9 percent from the foul line, putting in 15-of-19 free throws. They recorded six steals and three blocks in the game.

Ashlyn Green (Irving/Irving HS) led a trio of Cardinals in double figures with 22 points and went 3-for-3 from behind the arc. She also led the team in rebounds with seven and steals with two. Junior Ify Mora (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie) picked up 13 points and four rebounds. Senior
Katy Cooke (Marble Falls/Marble Falls HS) was the other Cardinal in double figures with 11 points, going 4-of-7 from the floor and 1-for-1 from three-point range.
The TexAnns shot 55.2 percent from the floor, 61.5 percent from behind the arc and went 16-of-22 from the foul line in their 14-point win over the Cardinals. All five of Tarleton's starters finished the game with double figures while their bench contributed just 12 points. Peyton Adamson led the TexAnns with 25 points while Kiara Wright had 17 points and a team high 15 rebounds.
The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday in a conference matchup against West Texas A&M in Canyon at 6 p.m.
