The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team ended a three-game losing skid on Wednesday night, defeated Texas A&M University-Commerce on the road, 65-47, in a Lone Star Conference matchup.
In a game that saw six lead changes and five tie scores before UIW took control early in the second half, the Cardinals got 19 points from Ashlyn Green and 13 points from Ifunanya Mora. Additionally, Jocelyn Jarmon battled for 14 rebounds and was close to getting a double-double with a nine-point effort.
Incarnate Word (11-9 overall, 6-8 LSC) took the lead at 16:09 and led by as many as 18 points. The team forced Commerce into 21 turnovers (UIW only had 10 turnovers) and made an impressive 25-of-41 shots from the free throw line.
The Cardinals will return home this Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against conference-leading Tarleton State University.
