Cardinals Hope to Withstand Dustdevils

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will take on the Texas A&M-International on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the McDermott Center.

The Cardinals (5-2) have had an impressive start to their season and will be looking for a fourth straight win.  The Dust Devils (3-5) have had a little bit of a rough start, but are coming off a solid victory at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The Cardinals are averaging 62.3 points and giving up 59.4 points per game.  They are among the top teams in the nation at forcing turnovers with 25.0 per game.  Ashlyn Green (Irving/Irving HS) is ranked 11th in the nation with 3.8 steals per game and also chips in 8.3 points per game.  Lauren McKinney (Grand Prairie/Arlington Bowie HS) leads the team with 12.0 points per game while Michelle Hale (Albuquerque, NM/Rio Grande HS) is the top rebounder with 7.6 per game.

The Dustdevils are averaging 60.6 points and giving up 65.9 points per game.  Tina Dang is the team's leading scorer with 13.5 points per game and has drained 20 three-pointers this year.  Samantha Chacon helps out with 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

All fans who bring a gently used pair of shoes to the game will receive free admission as part of the Soles4Souls game.
