Incarnate Word's Lesley Murray is the Rocky Mountain Conference Academic Athlete of the Year for swimming and diving.
Incarnate Word is an associate member of the RMAC for swimming and diving and that league has announced its top women in the classroom and Murray is the league's best for 2010-2011.
Murray is a senior at UIW and over the course of her time at the University she has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 while studying kinesiology.
She is no stranger to academic honors. At the end of last season she was named to the RMAC All-Academic team as well as being a College Swimming Coaches Association All-American. She also was named to the 2010 ESPN/The Magazine Academic All-District team.
In the pool this past season she was honorable mention NCAA Division II All-American in the 200-butterfly event. In the RMAC she was first team in both the 200-butterfly and the 400-medley relay.
Joining Murray on the RMAC academic first team is Paulina Alexander, a senior with a 3.71 GPA in mathematics.
Criteria for these teams include a grade point average of 3.30 or better, significant contribution to the team, and completion of two consecutive semesters at the school. The vote was among the conference sports information directors.
