Back from Christmas break and back in San Antonio, the Incarnate Word women's basketball team faced off against Texas A&M-Commerce in the St. Mary's Classic on Tuesday, defeating the Lions 77-60 and improving the Cardinals' record to 7-4 on the season.
Four of the five UIW starters scored in double digits, with Hayley Harvey scoring 16 points to lead the way. Jasmine Smith added 15 points, Cinnamon Kava scored 14 points and Nia Torru had 11.
On the boards, Harvey had nine rebounds and Smith was right behind with eight. Kava added five –all defensive.
Incarnate Word won the turnover battle once again, getting the Lions to lose possession 20 times to the Cardinals' 8.
UIW has won three straight games, tying their longest streak of the 2009-2010 season thus far, and will take its latest streak back onto Bill Greehey Arena tomorrow at 2 p.m. against University of Central Oklahoma.
