Trent Brittain
This week’s UIW Male Athlete of the Week is Trent Brittain for leading the Cardinals to victory over Houston Baptist in the final game of the season to clinch a second winning season in Division I and first winning season in the Southland Conference. This is the second time he has won the award and he is eligible for the UIW Male Athlete of the Year award that is voted on by the UIW coaches and the Sports Administration at the end of the year.
Despite enduring windy weather, Brittain played a strong game against HBU. He got things started with a 3-yard touchdown run for an early lead against the Huskies. In the second quarter, he pushed an 8-yard run to score on third-and-goal with 2:18 left in the half. He also completed a 12-yard pass to Cole Wick for a touchdown. For the season, Brittain led the Southland Conference with 2,254 passing yards and 2,661 total offensive yards, both school records.
Brittain is a red-shirt sophomore from Eastland, TX and is studying criminal justice. He finished the season as the school’s all-time leader in completions, pass attempts, passing yards and total offense.
