BROOKE DUBOIS
She had a good week hitting the softball and throwing it making Brooke Dubois the female athlete of the week at Incarnate Word for the time frame April 6 to April 12.
This week’s selection put Dubois on the list for when UIW coaches and athletic administrators name a female athlete of the year. That will come in May.
To open the week the Cardinals swept a pair at Prairie View A&M. Dubois was impressive in both games, particularly so in game one. In addition to throwing a complete game for the win, she was 2-3 at the plate including a home run. She scored twice herself and drove in six teammates. In game two, as a batter only, she clubbed a pair of home runs to account for four RBI.
For the week at the plate she hit .357, scored five times, and had 10 runs-batted-in on a double and those three very long balls.
Pitching, she picked up two of the three UIW victories. She turned in two complete games among her 18 innings in the circle. Her earned run average was 4.50 and she struck out eight opposing batters.
Dubois is a senior righthander hailing from Pearland. At UIW she is studying business administration.
