It was a golden goal.  It got a win for the Incarnate Word men’s soccer team and it got Noah Keats named UIW male athlete of the week for September 15 to September 21.
 
Keats now will be on the ballot at the end of the year when UIW coaches and athletic administrators select a male athlete of the year.
 
The Cardinals battled to a regulation time tie at Oakland (Mich).  By rule the game went into overtime with the first goal by either team ending the contest.  In the eighth minute of extra time Keats, a midfielder, struck the ball from 20 yards out sending it into the upper right corner of the net; golden goal and victory.
 
That shot gave the Cardinals their first win of the season.  It was Keats’ second score of the year.
 
He is a junior from Bath, England.  At Incarnate Word he is studying business management.
