University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

BRITTANI DEAR
 
She had some team highs and some personal bests in volleyball and subsequently Brittani Dear is the Incarnate Word female athlete of the week for the time slot September 8 to September 14.
 
She now goes onto the ballot for the year end selection of female athlete of the year by UIW coaches and athletic administrators.
 
At the Texas Tech tournament Dear played in all three UIW matches.  As the Cardinals went 2-1 she averaged 10 kills a match to go with a hitting percentage of .303 and 8.3 digs on defense.  She averaged 10.3 points each time out.
 
In a win over Texas State she put down 19 kills with no hitting errors.  Those 19 are a season high for the team and are a personal career best for Dear.  Plus, her hitting percentage against Texas State was a blistering .633 which again is a team high and a personal career best.  And, her 19.0 positive points in that match again were team season highs and a personal career high.
 
For her efforts Dear was selected to the all-tournament team.
 
She is a sophomore from La Vernia High School and she is studying chemistry at Incarnate Word.
