Men's Soccer Set for Two-Game Conference Road Trip

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team continues conference play with a two-game road trip, facing Lindenwood on Thursday before traveling to UTRGV on Sunday.

The Cardinals opened conference play last Saturday, falling 2-1 to Houston Christian in Houston. UIW was outshot 16-6 on the night but kept the match close through the opening half, with Knox Hicks and Evan Kraenzel each recording a shot while the Huskies managed five.

Houston Christian opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute before doubling its lead in the 64th minute. Juan Monrreal answered with his first career goal off an assist from Kraenzel, bringing the Cardinals within one. UIW continued to battle but was unable to find the equalizer.

Here's a look at the Cardinals' slate this week as they continue conference play.

The fifth-year goalkeeper has recorded three or more saves in six of his nine games played this season and ranks 10th nationally in shutouts and 22nd in goals-against average (0.70). Lindenwood's offense is led by Luca Bartoni, who leads the conference and the team with five goals and has accounted for five of the Lions' 14 goals this season.
