MONTGOMERY, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team wrapped up the first of four regular season matches at the Bentwater Invitational earlier this week.
Carson Hunsucker led the way for the Cardinals right from the start shooting one under.
Joe Buenfeld,
Francisco Taboada, and
Thomas Chalk followed closely behind shooting one, two, and three over respectively.
Ken-Marten Soo rounded out the group shooting 6-over.
In round two
Joe Buenfeld moved up the leader board with an even-par round.
Ken-Marten Soo was the best of the group shooting one-under-par. Fancisco was 2-over and bth Carson and Thomas shot 3-over-par. By the end of the first day all five Cardinals competing were in the top 50 of competitors.
On day two, in the final round in Montgomery, each UIW student-athlete found a way to move into better position. Carson continued to set the tone moving up to twenty-third.
Francisco Taboada joined Hunsucker, tied for twenty-third, after shooting +3 in the final round. Both Buenfeld and Soo moved into top 30, finishing tied for twenty-eighth.
Thomas Chalk rounded out the group moving up to forty-seventh.
The Cardinals finished the tournament in sixth place as a team.
UIW won't be back in action until March when the team heads up to Houston for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
