SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team competed at the Gaucho Invitational in the final match before the Cardinals play at the Southland Conference Championships April 21-23.
In round one
Francisco Taboada led the way for the Cardinals shooting three over par.
Ken-Marten Soo was only one stroke behind him and the three other UIW student-athletes,
Joe Buenfeld,
Carson Hunsucker, and
Jack Ward all were +5 in round one.
Francisco kept it up on day one shooting even in round two. All the Cardinals competing improved in round two. Joe and Carson shot up the leader board after shooting +1, Ken-Marten and Jack both took one less stroke with +3 and +4 rounds respectively.
In the final round Buenfeld had his best round in California, after shooting two under Joe moved into the top 30, finishing 29
th. Taboada wasn't far behind, shooting +2 and placing 32
nd. Soo (E) and Hunsucker (+1) both had a great rounds to finish out the invitational tied at 41
st. Ward rounded out the group staying consistent, shooting +5 in his final round and finishing 54
th.
