SAN ANTONIO – Four student-athletes from the University of the Incarnate Word football team earned 2024 All-American Honors.
Zach Calzada and
Mason Chambers both were named AP and Stats Perform All-Americans,
Roy Alexander earned a spot on the Stats Perform All-American team, and
Jalen Walthall was named an All-American by AP, Stats Perform, and AFCA.
Roy Alexander (Stats Perform)
Alexander was atop the FCS in nearly every receiver stat this season. His 1,108 receiving yards was tenth in the NCAA. He got to that 1,000+ yard mark on 100 catches, which was second most in the NCAA. In the 14 games this season Alexander caught 13 touchdown passes, fifth best in the country, along with two rushing touchdowns on the year.
Zach Calzada (AP / Stats Perform)
In his second season Calzada did it all on offense throwing for the fifth most yards in the NCAA with 3791 averaging 270.79 a game. With the best receiving combo in the country Calzada had plenty of options and was able to rack up the third most completions (347) and the second most passing touchdowns (35). He was responsible for 242 points on the year which is the third most scored in the FCS.
Mason Chambers (AP / Stats Perform)
Chambers made a team leading 90 tackles this season, 43 solo 47 assists. He forced two fumbles, recovering one and taking it to the endzone. Along with this, Chambers had seven pass break ups and snagged three interceptions in 2024.
Jalen Walthall (AP / Stats Perform / AFCA)
Walthall set a new UIW record for most receiving yards in a season with 1290 yards which was the third most in the NCAA. He averaged one touchdown catch per game for the Cardinals, finishing the year with 14, tied for third most in the NCAA.
