SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team had five student-athletes named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team.
Roy Alexander led the way not only on the field but also in the classroom as he was named the Southland 2024 Student-Athlete of the Year.
Roy Alexander was not only on the SLC All-Academic Team but was also named The 2024 Student-Athlete of the Year. Alexander had 1,108 receiving yards (10th in the NCAA) and 100 catches (2nd in the NCAA). He made 13 touchdown grabs, two games with three touchdown receptions and was named a Stats Perform All-American.
Myron Warren racked up 26 tackles (5 solo/ 21 assists) four tackles for loss and two sacks and a QB hurry in 2024.
Mason Williams was a key part of a line that helped UIW rush for 2665 yards and gave up the least number of sacks in the SLC with 21.
Emmonte Davis was lockdown in pass defense rarely seeing the ball thrown his way along with making nine total tackles.
Dekalon Taylor was an automatic selection after earning All-SLC first team. Taylor rushed for nearly 1k yards this season, 909 total, with nine touchdowns. He was productive moving the ball in all areas as he also made 22 catches this season along with returning 19 punts for 286 yards and one touchdown.
