SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team had seven student-athletes named to the Southland 2023 Preseason All-Conference Football Team. This is the third most among teams in the conference.
 
Returning all-conference selections from last season are automatically named to the all-conference team, the remaining spots are nominated and voted on by the Southland's head coaches.
 
Junior defensive lineman Steven Parker led the way for the Cardinals making the first team as a 2022 all-conference player. He is joined by his teammates Brandon Porter, Brandon Richard, and Stanley Mark on the first team.
 
CJ Hardy was named to the second team on the offensive side of the ball. He was joined by the only two UIW underclassman on the all-conference team, junior Marcus Brown and sophomore Dekalon Taylor, on the defensive side.
