Fencing Adds Courtney Hurley to 2023-24 Staff

SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's fencing team has announced the addition of Volunteer Assistant Coach Courtney Hurley for the start of the 2023-24 season. Hurley comes to UIW after spending two seasons coaching at the University of Notre Dame. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 24 in the world for women's epee.

"We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Courtney Hurley," said Head Coach John Moreau. "Hurley's decorated resume speaks for itself. The three-time USA Olympian has competed in countless tournaments around the world. Her most notable performance was an Olympic bronze medal with the USA Women's Epee Team at the 2012 London Olympics. There she became a part of the first U.S. Women's Epee Team to win a medal at the Olympic Games."

As a student-athlete at the University of Notre Dame, Hurley was a two-time NCAA National Champion and four-time NCAA First Team All-American. She graduated with a bachelor's in film, television, theater, and computer applications in 2013 and was awarded the Knute Rockne Student-Athlete Award in 2010.
