UIW Fencers Finish Season with All-American Accolades

SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word fencing team had athletes compete at the NCAA Fencing Championships this past weekend at The Ohio State University. Coach Moreau led two of his athletes, Rico Braun and Julian Spier, finishing 23rd in the Nation against schools such as Harvard, Notre Dame, Columbia, Princeton, Penn State and Ohio State.

Individually Rico Braun, graduate student, fenced brilliantly on the second day with seven victories out of eight matches to climb up from 16th place to 9th place. He also left with an Honorable Mention All-American Award.

Senior, Julian Spier finished 24th in a field that was contained over 230 selected male collegiate fencers in the NCAA.
