SAN ANTONIO- University of the Incarnate Word Fencer, Rico Braun, was named an All-American by the United States Fencing Coaches Association announced the USFCA after the conclusion of the NCAA Fencing Championships for all divisions.
This is the first time Braun has been selected as an All-American in his fencing career. The USFCA states that National Collegiate All-Americans are chosen based on outstanding performances at the NCAA Championships and their final placement at the competition. Rico Braun was named to the Honorable Mention-National Collegiate Team.
Braun is in his first year at UIW as a graduate student. The 6-foor-1, epee fencer from Tauberbischofsheim, Germany had an excellent year for the Cardinals. After finishing in second place at the MPSF Championships and advancing to the NCAA Championships from regionals, Braun finished in eighth overall.
