BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The dynamic duo of quarterback
Lindsey Scott Jr. and wide receiver
Taylor Grimes from the University of the Incarnate Word football team were picked by the Pittsburgh Maulers in the 2023 USFL Draft on Tuesday afternoon.
Scott was drafted second overall to the Maulers after an incredible season where he gained 4,686 total yards, scored 71 touchdowns, and was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Over 1,000 of those yards came on a connection with his star receiver who was also picked by the Maulers with the No. 49 pick in the draft. Grimes is coming off an equally impressive season catching 15 touchdowns and having six games with over 100 receiving yards.
The duo will look to help improve a Pittsburgh team that finished 1-9 last season averaging 172.4 yards per game to go along with 11 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions on the season.
