SAN ANTONIO – Wide receiver Brandon Porter and defensive lineman Steven Parker from the University of the Incarnate Word football team earned All-American status on Tuesday. The Associated Press announced the 2023 FCS All-America Team with Porter claiming a spot on the second team, while Parker earned first-team status on PFF's 2023 FCS All-America Team. Both were also named to the 2023 FCS Football Central All-American Team with Porter making an appearance on the second team and Parker on the third. 
 
The pair continues to rack up postseason accolades after each was named a finalist for the Walter Payton and Buck Buchanan Award, respectively.
 
Porter was crowned the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year while earning First Team All-Conference status after accumulating 1,072 yards (No. 2 in the nation) and seven touchdowns. He finished No. 2 in the nation for receiving yards per game with 107.2 while sitting at No. 9 for receptions per contest. Porter was second in the Southland Conference for all-purpose yards, while topping the charts for receptions per game and receiving yards per game. During the season, he was named Southland Offensive Player of the Week (2x), FCS Honorable Mention Player of the Week, and First Team Offense Phil Steele Midseason All-American Team. Dave Campbell named him Wide Receiver of the Year for the 2023 All-Texas Non-FBS Team. 
 
Parker, Southland First Team All-Conference honoree and Phil Steele FCS Midseason Defensive Player of the Year, was a defensive threat for the Cardinals all season, leading the team in tackles for loss (14.5), sacks (7), quarterback hurries (6), and forced fumbles (3). Nationally, he was No. 10 for forced fumbles, No. 16 in tackles for loss, and No. 25 in sacks, helping the Cardinals to the 10th-ranked total defense and 312th-ranked scoring defense. Parker had a season-high seven tackles and two sacks against Texas A&M–Commerce, with four tackles for loss at Northern Colorado. Dave Campbell named him Defensive Lineman of the Year for the 2023 All-Texas Non-FBS Team.
