SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team had four student-athletes earn Ohio Valley Conference awards for the 2023 season.
 
Sello Diphoko was named first team all-conference. His seven regular season goals tied him for third most in the conference. Four of his seven goals were game winners, giving the Cardinals the edge, which was tied for sixteenth in the nation.
 
Hugo Constant and Miles Merritt were both named to the OVC second team. Constant won goalkeeper of the week twice this season. He made 60 saves throughout the regular season and posted four shoutouts. Merritt was a key player for the Cardinals this season. Scoring two goals and making three assists all while being a steady defender and keeping UIW in possession.
 
Merritt also was named to the Newcomer team along with Peleg Armendariz. In his first season with the team Armendariz helped the Cardinals push the pace and scored five goals on the season.
 
You can catch your Ohio Valley Conference award winners in their final OVC game of the season this Saturday when they take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at 6 p.m. CT for the championship.
