SAN ANTONIO – Taylor Grimes of the University of the Incarnate football team was named to the 2022 Athlon Preseason All-America Team, announced the organization on Monday, June 13.
 
Grimes appeared in 12 games for the Cardinals in 2021. He led the team in receptions (87), receiving yards (1,145), and touchdowns (16). Grimes had six games with over 100 receiving yards and three games with three touchdowns or more. He had explosive games against Nicholls State University, where he had nine receptions for 182 yards and four touchdowns and against Southeastern Louisiana University, where he recorded 12 receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns. 
 
Grimes concluded his historic 2021 season with a second-team NCAA FCS All-America bid, while winning Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year. He broke numerous UW records, including single game receiving touchdowns (four), receiving yards in a game (193), receptions in a game (12), single season receiving yards (1,145) and receiving touchdowns (15).
