AUSTIN – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team wrapped up a three-game series against No. 2 University of Texas (UT) on Sunday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
On the series,
Hernan Yanez and
Ridge Rogers led the team with three hits each.
Game One
UIW took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning following a ground out from
Roberto Gonzalez to bring Rogers home.
The Longhorns tacked on seven runs through the next three innings (7-1).
In the fifth, the Cardinals scored off an RBI single from
Reid Hensley to bring the score to 8-2, but ultimately UT took game one, 19-2.
Game Two
Once more, the Cardinals scored first following an RBI single from
Joey Baran (1-0) in the second inning.
UT answered with a 10-1 lead heading into the seventh frame.
Alec Carr smacked a solo homer to left center, but the Longhorns won game two, 10-2.
Game Three
Texas scattered 12 runs across five different innings to win the game, 12-0.
