2024 (Graduate): Zavala holds the UIW record for most starts in a career and most shutouts in a season and in a career. He finished his final season at UIW as the Saturday pitcher, compiling a 4-6 record through 86 innings pitched. With 13 starts on the mound, he threw three complete games and two shutouts to earn himself SLC Pitcher of the Week. 

2023 (Senior): Zavala finished with a single-game high of 11 strikeouts against Southern Illinois Edwardsville, totaling a 6-1 record on the season to lead the Cardinals through 52 innings pitched for a 4.10 ERA.  Selected to the SLC All-Academic Second Team. 

2022 (Junior): Started nine games for the Cardinals, striking out 39 batters through 45 innings pitched. 

2021 (Sophomore): Appeared in 13 games with eight starts…led the Cardinals with a 5-3 record and two complete games in 48 innings of work…had 40 strikeouts and .289 opponent batting average…had a season-high eight strikeouts in seven innings against Northwestern State on March 13…pitched a season-high eight innings with seven strikeouts against Nicholls on May 1…SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient.

2020 (Freshman): Appeared and started four games...had 18 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched...season ended March 13 due to COVID-19.

High School: Played at Southwest High School….had a 0.59 ERA with eight wins in 70.2 innings pitched…had a 102 strikeouts and held opponents to a .143 batting average…a third-team All-State selection in junior year…earned first-team All-District honors in junior and senior year.
 
Personal: The son of Lupe and Lupita Zavala…has one sister, Loren…a kinesiology major…born February 15, 2001.
