SAN ANTONIO – Dave Campbell's Texas Football placed four University of the Incarnate Word football student-athletes on the 2022 All-Texas Sub-FCS teams while naming G.J. Kinne Co-Coach of the Year and
Lindsey Scott Jr. the Offensive Player of the Year.
Kinne earned the award after leading the team to the furthest playoff run in school history, marking a 12-2 record.
Scott has accumulated several postseason awards, but was named offensive player of the year as he had "one of the greatest seasons of any quarterback at any level of college football," said Cory Hogue, Dave Campbell writer.
The receiving duo of
Darion Chafin and
Taylor Grimes combined for 33 touchdowns this season and were named to the All-Texas Sub-FBS Offense team.
Chris Whittaker and
Kelechi Anyalebechi were a force to be reckoned with, earning themselves a spot on the All-Texas Sub-FCS Defense team. Anyalebechi finished the season with 114 total tackles (65 solo, 49 assisted), 10 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, three pass breakups, two QB hurries, two fumble recoveries, and three touchdowns. Whittaker led the Cardinals in sacks with 7.5 and finished with 36 tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered, and one pass breakup.
