FRISCO, Texas – Reid Francis and Shawn Holton of the University of the Incarnate Word football team were named to the Southland Conference Football All-Academic team announced the league on Tuesday.
 
Francis, a redshirt freshman mechanical engineering major boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA and was also named to the Southland All-Conference Offensive Third Team. The College Station, Texas native has been named to the Dean's List every semester so far at UIW.
 
Francis was a crucial member of the offensive line for the Spring 2021 season that when healthy allowed the least number of tackles for loss in the nation, allowing just 2.80. The Cardinal offensive line helped UIW boast the second-best rushing offense in the league, 14th in the nation averaging 207.6 yards.
 
Holton, a sophomore criminal justice major holds a 3.68 GPA and was named to the Dean's List at UIW for Fall 2020. He averaged 6.8 tackles per game, which ranked among the top 20 in the SLC, recording 34 tackles on the season (16 solo, 18 ast.). The Fort Worth, Texas native was responsible for seven pass breakups, first in the league, and tied a program-record four in a single game against Southeastern Louisiana.
