CHICAGO – Cameron Ward of the University of the Incarnate Word football was named FCS National Freshman Player of the Week as announced by Stats Perform on Monday afternoon.  

The true freshman continued a sizzling start to his career, accounting for 365 yards and five touchdowns in UIW's 42-20 win at Lamar in the Southland Conference. He completed 29 of 44 passes (65 percent) for 341 yards, throwing four touchdowns for the second straight game (each to a different receiver) and two interceptions. He also rushed for 24 yards and a TD. 

In two games, Ward has matched a freshman UIW record for most touchdown passes in a single game with four against McNeese and four against Lamar. 

Senior Kevin Brown received an honorable mention nod in the Offensive Player of the Week category.
