- UIW maintains the best 3-point defense in the league in nine games, holding opponents to 25% from beyond the arc, which ranks ninth in the nation.
- In nine career starts, Jaaucklyn Moore leads the squad with 11.1 ppg., which is 16th in the SLC. Her 82.6% from the charity stripe is No. 3 in the league.
- Starr Omozee notched her first double-double of the season on Feb. 8, in UIW's 66-47 victory over McNeese with 11 points and 12 rebounds, adding one block and two steals.
- UIW picked up back-to-back wins, its first conference wins of the 2020-21 campaign, on the road against McNeese and Northwestern State limiting both opponents to 47 points on their home courts, and is currently on a three-game winning streak after defeating New Orleans at home.
- Two or more Cardinals have scored in double digits in six games this season, five of which resulted in wins, the sole loss was a 67-63 final score against UTEP.
- Moore earned honorable mention recognition in the league's Feb. 15 ballot following strong performances in a week that saw the Cardinals win three games in a row, where she led the team with 17 points against McNeese and had a double-digit performance at home against New Orleans.
- Starr Omozee was an honorable mention for Southland Conference weekly awards (Dec. 7), appearing on 25 percent of the ballots. Her 16 points, seven rebounds performance in the win over UTSA were a highlight for the junior on that week's ballot. Her 11.8 ppg ranked 12th in the SLC, while her 5.8 rebounds ranked 16th.
SCOUTING LAMAR
- Lamar leads the all-time series against UIW, 2-10. UIW picked up its first program wins against Lamar after sweeping the series last season.
- Michaela Wilson leads the Cardinals in scoring with 12.1 points per game, which is 14th best in the league, at a rate of 44.1% from the field.
- Michaela Wilson and Bebe Galloway lead the squad in rebounds, with 6.1 and 6.0 rebounds per game, respectively, and rank among the top 15 in the league.
- The Cardinals' defensive strength is in the turnover game as they hold the No. 2 turnover margin in the league at 4.68 (30th in the nation), forcing opponents to 20.1 turnovers per game, which ranks 23rd in the nation.
- Jaydyn Pimentel is averaging 2.4 steals per game, which rates third in the league, to contribute to Lamar's 9.7 steals per game (No. 46 in the NCAA).
- Lamar holds the second-best free throw percentage in the Southland with an accuracy of 73.3%.
SCOUTING A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
- A&M-Corpus Christi leads the head-to-head series against UIW 2-12. The Cardinals last defeated the Islanders 77-72 back on March 2, 2019, inside the McDermott Center.
- Alecia Westbrook leads the Islanders with 12.4 ppg., while also grabbing a team-high 9.1 rebounds per game which is No. 2 in the SLC and No. 68 in the NCAA. Westbrook's sharpshooting from the field at a rate of 54.9% is third-best in the league.
- Freshman Paige Allen is averaging a league-best 3.0 steals per game which is 13th-best in the nation.
- A&M-Corpus Christi is averaging 4.1 blocked shots per game led by Alexandria Pollard's 1.5 per contest.
