Killough promoted to assistant coach

SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word football head coach Eric Morris promoted Clint Killough to inside wide receivers coach/academic coordinator on April 1, 2020. Killough joined the Cardinals prior to the 2018 season; he worked as a quality control coach with inside wide receivers for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

"I'm thrilled to be able to promote Clint to a full-time position," said Morris. "Clint has really bought in to the culture we have been building at UIW, and he has worked tirelessly to help us achieve our goals. I am excited to see how he continues to grow as a coach in this new role."

"I'm extremely humbled and grateful for the opportunity Coach Morris has given me to take the next step in my coaching career," said Killough. "I look forward to continuing to develop a talented inside WR group, both on and off the field. I'm proud to be a San Antonio native, and a UIW Cardinal!"

In Killough's second season as a quality control coach with UIW (2019), the Cardinals won five games and broke numerous program records.

Killough helped guide wide receiver Kam Williams to four consecutive 100-yard receiving games, with a season-best 146 and three touchdowns on six catches against Texas Southern. His four consecutive 100-yard games rank second in program history, while his three TD catches against TSU tied a program record for single-game TD receptions.

In 2018, Killough was part of a staff that engineered the most successful season in program history, marked by a Southland Conference championship and a berth to the FCS Playoffs. UIW, who was 1-10 overall and 1-7 in SLC action in 2017, had one of the best turnarounds in the nation in 2018 with a 6-4 record (six wins ties the program record).

Killough helped guide UIW to multiple season records, including total offense (5,315), points (357), and touchdowns (48).

Senior wide receivers Kody Edwards (932 yards) and Phillip Baptiste (905 yards, first team All-SLC) each set records on the outside in 2018. Baptiste broke single season program records for receptions (59), receiving touchdowns (9), and receptions per game (5.36), while Edwards set program bests with five 100-yard receiving outings and 1,389 all-purpose yards. Edwards also broke the program record for career receiving yards (2,353) and receptions (140) and tied the program record for receiving touchdowns (14).

Prior to returning to San Antonio, Killough was a defensive and offensive graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University from 2017-18. While in Bowling Green, Killough worked with the secondary before transitioning over to the offensive side of the ball with the wide receivers.

Before joining the BGSU staff, Killough, a San Antonio native, played for the Cardinals for three years, one of which he suffered a season-ending injury after just three games as a junior. While in the red and black, Killough had 54 receptions for 692 yards and two touchdowns, including a 90-yard touchdown reception that still stands as a school record for longest touchdown from scrimmage (tied twice, in 2015 and again in 2019). Killough was also named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll as a senior and inducted into the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

Killough graduated from UIW with a bachelor's degree in finance in 2015. He is the son of Tim and Vicki Killough and has a younger brother, Brody.
