DENTON, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's swimming and diving team heads up to Denton, Texas, to face the University of North Texas on Friday afternoon. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
The women are coming into Friday off a fast-paced two day meet against Air Force on Jan. 10-11, where the Cardinals came in second but showed improved times.
Notable Cardinals from the last time out:
- Kristen Straszacker -- first in 200 back (2:06.64); second in 100 back (57.36)
- 200 medley relay -- second (Straszacker, Ruvalcaba Cruz, Taylor and Vega-1:47.89)
- Ximena Conde -- first in 200 free (1:55.21); first in 500 free (5:06.00)
- Brenda Diaz -- first in 400 IM (4:38.77); first in 200 free (1:57.68); first in 200 IM (2:13.20)
- Maya Knutson -- second in 200 fly (2:15.06)
- Mariana Ruvalcaba Cruz -- second in 200 breast (2:26.73); second in 100 breast (1:06.92)
- Sophie Taylor -- second in 100 fly (58.19)
- Ana Lucia Garza was the top finisher for women's diving, taking second on the 1M with 243.98 points. She later racked up 249.60 points to take third on the 3M.
