SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team kicks off its final homestand of the 2018-19 regular season on Wednesday when they welcome Northwestern State to the McDermott Center for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) tipoff against the Lady Demons.

I-MONEY ROBINSON
- Junior guard Imani Robinson continues to log major minutes for the Cardinals. Cementing herself as an all-around leader of the group.
- She has recorded 225 points and 105 rebounds this season, becoming the first Cardinal in UIW DI history to record at least 200 points and 100 rebounds in three consecutive seasons – first overall since Ifunanya Mora (2010-14).
- She scored a career-high 26 points against UNO (1/26/19)
- She claimed her first double-double of the season in her last outing against SFA (2/23) giving her four-career double-doubles.
- She has been getting to the line with great success in conference action, hitting 42 of 54 free throws (77.8 percent).
- Robinson has remained a constant all-around threat for the Cardinals. She leads or is among the leaders, in all major statistical categories including first in points (225) assists (58), steals (46), blocks (18), free throws made (63) and attempted (86). She is third on the team in 3pt made (19) and total rebounds (105).
- Against New Orleans (1/26/19), she hit career highs in points (26) and steals (6). With that, she became one of just five SLC student-athletes to record six or more steals in a conference game at the time.
- She became the first Cardinal this season to record three or more blocks in a single game when she swatted three shots at New Orleans (2/2/19). She got three blocks again in her last outing, at SFA (2/23).
SPEERHEADING THE OFFENSE
- Sophomore guard Kara Speer has turned a corner in conference play.
- After averaging 2.8 points per game in non-conference, Speer has taken her game to a new level. She's third on the team in scoring (7.0 ppg) since the start of SLC play. Providing a much-needed supplemental threat for the offense.
- She leads the team in conference games with a .906 shooting percentage from the line (29-32).
- Her impact is being felt on the glass too, Speer hauled in a career-high 11 rebounds against Lamar (2/20). She is averaging 7 points and 7 rebounds in her last four games.
- She led the team in points for the first time this season with 13 points against SFA (Jan. 19).
- She's had a fantastic month of February, averaging 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 93.75 percent from the line (15-16)
SHE CAN HOLTER OWN
- Sophomore guard Liz Holter has taken advantage of her playing time, putting up new season-high point totals in three straight contests (2/9-2/16), culminating in a career-high 12 points against Abilene Christian (2/16).
- She is averaging 6.6 points per game over her last five games, in large part due to her spot on three-point shooting. She has splashed 10 of 18 three-point attempts in her last five contests (55.6 percent) including a career high four made triples from six attempts against ACU.
- She has now made at least one three in five consecutive games, the longest such streak of her career.
- She is shooting 47.8 from the field (11-23) over her last five games, an improvement of over 26 percent compared to her first 15 games.
- Holter leads the team in three-point shooting in SLC play, shooting 45.8 percent from beyond the arc (11-24).
YEEEEAAAAHHHHHH BOWIEEEEEE
- Throughout conference games, redshirt senior guard Gabbi Bowie has sprinkled plenty of flava into the UIW offense.
- She delivered a season-high 17 points and five assists to lead UIW to victory over Southeastern Louisiana (2/13).
- Over her last four games, she is putting up 8.5 points and 2.25 assists to go along with 2.5 rebounds per game and two steals.
- She has made at least one three in her last six consecutive games, the longest streak of her career and second longest streak of any Cardinal this season (Wiggins – 8).
- Against New Orleans, she scored 10 points on a career high 10 made free throws. She also dished out a career best seven assists and a season high three steals in the win.
- Against SLU, Bowie scored a season-best 17 points on a career-high 71.4 percent shooting (5-7).
- She played a career high 39 minutes against New Orleans. Since the beginning of SLC play, she is averaging 26.7 minutes played per game.
- She set a new career high for assists in a single season this year, with 40. She still has four games to add to that total.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN STATE
- The Lady Demons enter play at ninth place in the Southland, two games behind eighth place.
- They are coming off of a 63-46 home win over HBU, last Thursday, improving their conference record to 4-10.
- They are led by freshman guard RaVon Nero. She is averaging 12.0 points-per-game, including 13.0 points in conference play.
- This is the first and only meeting this season between UIW and NWSU. The Lady Demons lead the all-time series, 4-1.
- UIW is 2-0 at home this season against opponents from Louisiana.
